Introducing DAX Video Course

This is an introductory video course about the DAX language. DAX is the native language of Power BI, Power Pivot for Excel, and SSAS Tabular models in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services. The training is aimed at users of Power BI, Power Pivot for Excel, and at Analysis Services developers that want to move the first steps with DAX.

The goal is to teach the DAX language using Power BI for all the examples. You can download the initial Power BI Desktop file used in the demos and repeat all the steps shown in the videos. The same concepts can be used also on Power Pivot and on Analysis Services Tabular. The course is made of 150 minutes of lectures. You can watch the videos at anytime and the system will keep track of your advances. Within the course you can download the slides and the initial Power BI file used in the demos.

  • Luigi Neri (Dec 28, 2018)

I really enjoyed the course. It is really well taught. The thing I liked the most is your approach. Out there you can find many people who can show you how to do things but that do not explain the theory behind. In your course, instead, you go deep showing the theory and try to teach the correct way to think DAX. The part I like the most is that related to table calculation and context. You explain difficult concepts in a good way. I acknowledge that in order to master these concepts, someone needs to spend a lot of time using the language but in your course, you show the way. Thank you very much for making this course free.

Thank you! This course is very useful for beginners and is available even if people with no advanced English! But, I think file-example in excel would be plus.

    Wonderful

  • Charlie Abramson (Dec 7, 2018)

Simply excellent. I have some background knowledge from using Excel and Access and wanted to learn Power BI. After learning a bit about Power BI I realised I needed a better understanding of DAX and this course absolutely hit the spot. If I have a need to learn more about DAX, I'll be back to SQLBI.com for the Mastering DAX course. Thank you both!
