Introduction to Data Modeling for Power BI Video Course

Introduction to Data Modeling for Power BI is an introductory video course about data modeling, which is a required skill to get the best out of Power BI, Power Pivot for Excel, and Analysis Services. The training is aimed at users that do not have a background knowledge in data modeling for analytical systems and reporting.

The goal of the course is introduce the primary concepts of dimensional modeling, using practical examples and demos to illustrate how to obtain the desired result without having to write complex DAX expressions. Creating a proper data model simplifies the code to write and improves the performance. The course is made of 100 minutes of lectures. You can watch the videos at any time and the system will keep track of your advances. Within the course you can download the slides and the Power BI files used in the demos.

Definitely a good guide with good advice to start understanding data modeling, thanks Marco

  • Zyanya Sanchez (Feb 28, 2020)

Very well paced. I am not a programmer and yet it was easy to understand the concepts and the importance of data modeling. Looking forward to learn more and do more hands on practice.

  • CRISTIAN GARCIA (Feb 26, 2020)

You are so clear!!! Thanks a lot by share this introduction to Data Modeling.

  • Carlos F Paez (Feb 25, 2020)

Very interesting lecture, it introduces the new concepts in comfortable space for the newcomer.

  • Vladan Pantelic (Feb 22, 2020)

Best instructors I ever had chance to learn from !

  • Michael Volkert (Feb 21, 2020)

Excellent introduction and information. Although having been working with Power BI for more than 2 years I learned new things which will help me improve the work I am doing.

  • Luis Navarro (Feb 20, 2020)

This was just amazing, i've learned a lot and also confirmes some knoledge i already had. Excuse my poor english writening, and thanks.

It´s a pity that there is no connection to the DB nor a way to download the DB, since the SQL server connection is unavailable. Otherwise, the course is brilliant. Thank you very much!

  • Virginia Rojas (Feb 18, 2020)

    excellent course!!!

  • Hypatia Rojas (Feb 17, 2020)

    great

  • Doug Hart (Feb 8, 2020)

Very well done! The basics of data modeling are explained quite well, and in the context of using Power BI which help tremendously for a new PBI user such as myself. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to advance their skills in database work, and especially PBI.

  • Andy Wielkiszu (Feb 7, 2020)

    Its great!

  • MATIAS STERZER (Feb 5, 2020)

    Simply fantastic course!..clear explanations...

  • Joao Monteiro (Feb 2, 2020)

Just one word. Great. My thanks for sharing your knowledge so clearly and for free. I will certainly buy one of your complete courses, I was just wondering if I should buy Data Modeling or Mastering DAX, since I don't have the money to buy both.
